MIS Clans

Houses/Clans In Internaional Schools

International schools all have Houses/Clans.

The idea of the clan and a sense of belonging is central not only to the school but to human nature. As a school, we want students to develop key skills and to enhance their sense of community and teamwork by becoming actively involved in clan events. Our four clans, Balmoral, Edinburgh, Lomond, and Nevis, encompass this idea of a society and a sense of belonging. We aim to build on the rich history already established through the clan system here at MIS. One look at the Clan leader boards, hanging proudly on the main floor of the main school building, demonstrates the quality of individuals that we have had leading the individual clans throughout the young life of MIS.

The clan system is at the heart of how the school runs, with academic merits, musical achievements, and sporting prowess all combining to determine which clan wins the Clan Cup at the end of the academic year. We encourage all students to get involved, as each different clan event tests a diverse range of skills and all help to develop the holistic nature of the child. In this manner, we can ensure that all students at MIS experience an elite education and we hope that throughout their time at school, every student feels safe and happy within their respective clan. These are led by the student Clan Captains, a prestigious role and one that brings with it leadership opportunities at every turn. Good luck to all this year and we know, after experiencing the excellent Clan Cross Country, that all events this year will be conducted in a competitive yet friendly and good-natured manner.

Our clan names were chosen to represent the rich Scottish history.
